Lumber Product Price Forecasting and Optimization (LumFO)
The Challenge
Led by Promobois G.D.S. Inc., in collaboration with Yeji Data Lab Inc., Bois d’Œuvre Cedrico Inc., and MultiFib, the LumFO project aims to modernize Canada’s lumber industry through artificial intelligence. Targeting the common challenge of volatile markets, the initiative introduces three AI modules: 30-day lumber price forecasts, customer demand prediction and segmentation, and production planning optimization. These tools help align manufacturing with market signals, reduce inefficiencies, and identify new client opportunities, targeting $1.6M in new annual sales and boosting plant utilization. The project anticipates $46M in cumulative revenue growth and creates value across the regional ecosystem, all while respecting intellectual property (IP) safeguards.
