This presentation provides a practical overview of the factors that contribute to the success of an artificial intelligence project, from defining clear business objectives and relevant use cases to securing stakeholder buy-in, ensuring data quality, and bringing together the right expertise. Marc Vaucher, Senior Director of Investments at SCALE AI, will also share the organization’s perspective on project evaluation and the key elements for identifying an AI strategy that creates value, supports sustainable adoption, and contributes to the growth of Canada’s AI ecosystem.
SCALE AI invests in the future of artificial intelligence and contributes to the development of a strong and sustainable Canadian ecosystem. Accelerating the adoption and commercialization of AI across industry is one of the organization’s key levers for achieving this goal. Since 2019, SCALE AI has contributed up to $337 million to 256 AI projects across Canada. Beyond funding, SCALE AI supports organizations throughout the implementation of their projects to maximize their impact and chances of success.
However, the success of an AI project depends not only on technology, but also on the strategy and conditions under which it is deployed. Key factors include defining clear business objectives and relevant use cases, securing buy-in from leadership and end users, accessing high-quality data, and bringing together the right expertise. Combined, these factors can transform a technology solution into a true driver of value for the organization.
Marc Vaucher will explore these issues during his session at ALL IN 2026. With more than 15 years of experience in strategy, investment, and organizational transformation, he currently serves as Senior Director of Investments at SCALE AI, where he leads the selection and monitoring of artificial intelligence projects. Since joining the organization in 2019, he has contributed to the evaluation and implementation of projects representing several hundred million dollars in AI investment. Previously, he held leadership positions in the healthcare, nuclear energy, and financial services sectors, where he developed expertise in value creation, performance analysis, and advising decision-makers.
This session will give participants a better understanding of how SCALE AI evaluates the projects submitted to the organization and the factors that distinguish a relevant, value-creating AI strategy that supports sustainable adoption. Marc Vaucher will share practical insights to help organizations better structure their projects, maximize their chances of success, and contribute to the development of Canada’s AI ecosystem.
