Montreal, December 17, 2025 — SCALE AI, Canada’s artificial intelligence (AI) cluster, announced today new investments supporting applied AI projects in Québec, part of a broad national effort unveiled yesterday by SCALE AI and Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation.
In Québec, SCALE AI is supporting 24 applied AI initiatives, representing a total project value of $73.3 million. These projects demonstrate how organizations across the province are adopting advanced AI technologies to strengthen competitiveness, accelerate innovation, and contribute to Canada’s economic growth.
These projects are part of SCALE AI’s largest funding round to date. Totaling $128.5 million and announced yesterday, this announcement is a clear sign of the strong momentum of AI in Québec and Canada, driven in particular by increased public sector engagement and the rapid adoption of AI technologies across multiple industries nationwide. The announcement also highlights a growing trend: a rising number of projects now involve partners from multiple provinces, reflecting an increasingly interprovincial AI ecosystem and a strengthening culture of collaboration across Canada.
With this new round of funding, the total investments led by SCALE AI in Québec now exceed $444 million, supporting 108 AI projects since the program’s launch in 2018.
The projects announced today in Québec highlight AI applications across healthcare, retail, energy, and manufacturing, with examples such as:
- The Montreal General Hospital, in collaboration with the McGill University Health Centre, Airudi and Lachine Hospital, developing AI tools that reduce nurses’ administrative workload by automating shift reports, optimizing staff assignments and supporting task prioritization so clinical teams can focus more on patient care.
- The CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, working with IVADO Labs, AlayaCare and McGill University, applying predictive analytics to forecast emergency admissions, discharges and home-care risks to improve patient flow and manage hospital capacity more proactively.
- Promobois G.D.S., in collaboration with Yeji Data Lab, Bois d’Œuvre Cedrico and MultiFib, applying AI to help the lumber industry better anticipate market conditions and optimize production.
This announcement reinforces the momentum behind Canada’s AI ecosystem. With the Government of Canada developing a renewed national AI strategy, investments like these are accelerating the commercialization and adoption of Canadian AI technologies in Québec.
These projects also reflect a strong public-private partnership, with a 2:1 private-to-public investment ratio supporting real-world implementation and long-term economic impact.
Today’s announcement took place at SCALE AI’s headquarters in Montréal. The event brought together the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, along with Carlos Leitão, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry, Claude Guay, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Céline Haytayan, Parliamentary Assistant to the Québec Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy for Artificial Intelligence, the Quantum Sector, Science and Innovation, project partners, provincial AI leaders, and representatives from SCALE AI.
